Our newbie Tug came from a remote Alaskan village, and had some skin issues that caused him to look a bit rough when he arrived here. However, he’s been an endlessly happy boy since the second we met him. This 9-year-old wild man has blossomed into an affectionate, and very food-motivated guy with a zest for life and a love for people.
Tug is incredibly human-focused and learns fast—he’s already picking up sit, stay, and even “shush” (though he’ll still let out some classic sled dog barks when he’s pumped up). With his eagerness to please and a belly that’s always ready for treats, we have no doubt he’ll master even more commands and tricks in no time.
Still active and full of energy, Tug is the perfect candidate for an adventurous home. We haven’t introduced him to bikejoring or skijoring yet, but all signs point to him loving it. Whether it’s hiking, running, or exploring new places, Tug is game. He’s not super interested in playing with other dogs and is even a bit “put off” when his buddy Tiger tries to play with him. Tug would probably prefer a home where he is the center of attention.
One of his quirkiest (and most endearing) traits? He clacks his jaws like an alligator when he knows mealtime is coming—his way of saying “hurry it up, please!” Tug may have come in a little rough around the edges, but he’s well on his way to becoming a loyal, well-mannered gentleman.
If you’re looking for a spunky, trainable, food-loving adventure pal, Tug is ready to leap into your life—and your heart.
